Johnson County Middle School is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in East Tennessee. Located in a rural community, we serve approximately 350 7th and 8th grade students. All of our teachers are highly qualified as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act. We, the faculty and staff of Johnson County Middle School believe in our students, and hold high expectations for each of them. We strive each day to give each student the opportunity to experience success.
In the 2011-2012 school year, our students excelled in the state writing exam, earning our highest average ever, 4.37 out of 6. They also earned a school-wide composite score of 16 on the EXPLORE test, a precursor to the ACT, which meets the college-readiness benchmark and is yet another high water mark for JCMS. We are currently implementing several new, research-based strategies, in an effort to increase our level of performance on Tennessee state assessments. |
