The library is open Monday thru Friday during regular school hours. We have approximately 16,000 books available for checkout. The students are required to read books totaling 12 points per nine weeks. This part of their Language Arts grade. We go to great lengths to insure that the library has a wide variety of books to cover the many varying interest of the school population. The students are allowed to check out 2 books for a two week period of time. The student may renew their books twice. The student may put a hold on books they are interested in if a copy is not available on the shelf. The Language arts teachers bring their classes to the Media Center once a week to obtain books. At this time, the librarian introduces various books that would appeal to the teenage reader. Library fines are assessed at two cents per day with a threshold of 26 cents. If a book is lost, we encourage the student to search diligently for the books, but until the book is found or paid for the librarian does not allow any borrowing of books. The student has a month from the turn-in date of the book to either find it or pay for it before the no borrowing rule becomes effective. The librarian, Mrs. B, and her assistant, Mrs. Murray, both hope you will swing by and visit us soon. |
